Sri Mukhalingeswara Temple

Sri Mukhalingeswara Temple is located in a small village Mukhalingam, which is located at a distance of about 50 km from Srikakulam and 170 km from Visakhapatnam. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is said to have been constructed during the 8th century when the region was under the control of the East Ganga Dynasty. Therefore, it could be said that it is one of the oldest temples in the region. Apart from being a site of historical significance, it is noted for its architectural beauty, which comprise intricate designs, commendable reliefs and wonderful domes. Today, it is one of the most important religious sites amongst Hindus in the region and is visited by thousands of Hindu devotees and tourists every year. The major festivals celebrated here include Shivratri.
