Ruins of Churli Estate
There is a small but ancient village in Kishanganj's Thakurganj assembly constituency. People call it Churli village. This village with a population of about 5 thousand is famous because of an old ruin.
When we went to look for this ruin, the bus driver dropped us at a place 6 km away from Thakurganj bus stand before Piprithan. We were told there that we can go to Churli village from here by taking a small vehicle like an electric rickshaw or an auto.
We asked 2-3 rickshaw pullers to take us to Churli Estate, but they had no idea what Churli Estate was. Then when we said that it was a ruin, a rickshaw puller agreed and we set out for Churli village.
The rickshaw driver dropped us near Churli Estate. There were a few shops selling vegetables, fruits, fish and mobile phones. Canal water was flowing under a small bridge. After walking a little further, we found a path leading to ruins.
Although people come from far away to see this 250 year old ruin, the local people are unaware of its history.
Churli Estate is one of the selected historical estates of Bihar. This ruin of Churli Estate was once the mansion of Zamindar Khudan Lal Singh. Khudan Lal Singh was one of the biggest Zamindars of Seemanchal area.
