Rangeen Mahal

Amidst Bidar's ancient architectural wonders lies an enchanting testament to King Ali Barid Shah's legacy. Situated within the Bidar Fort's massive complex, this beautiful monument beckons travellers into a realm of poetry and art.

Step into the vibrant Rangeen Mahal, where Persian elegance intertwines with Hindu and Islamic influences. Once known as the Queen's Palace or Rani Mahal, this was where the queen and her female staff resided. Its hidden chambers whisper tales of regal grace and intrigue.

The palace was built between 1542 and 1580 during the reign of King Ali Barid Shah. He was known for his appreciation of Persian poetry and art. The name Rangeen Mahal means 'Coloured Palace'. This name was given to it because its walls were decorated with tiles of different hues.

Rangeen Mahal is not just a palace; it is an opulent symphony of colours, textures and tales offering a glimpse into the rich past of Bidar's royalty.
