Jait Sagar Lake

Jait Sagar Lake is for over 2 kilometers away from the town, which is situated adjacent to Taragarh hill. The lake is one of the most serene and picturesque location in Bundi that has been attracting many of the travel lovers. Jait Sagar Lake is a 1.5 km long lake that is surrounded by hills and is sprinkled with lotus during monsoon and winter months. Jait Sagar Lake, Bundi has Sukh Mahal on one of its banks, which happens to be a small summer palace with beautiful terraced gardens where Rudyard Kipling stayed when he was writing his novel Kim. Jait Sagar Lake is located amongst the serene natural setting of mountains, which was commissioned by Jaita Meena. Another attraction of Bundi placed near the lake is Shikhar Burj.

History of Jait Sagar Lake:
This Lake was built in the early 14th Century A.D. by Jaita Meena, the ruler of Bundi. Later on, it was got repaired by Gehlotni Jayvanti, the mother of Rao Raja Surjan Singh (the ruler of Bundi between 1544-1585 A.D.) and the masonary work was done.

Architecture & Attractions of the Lake:
This Lake is 4 Km in length. It has a beautiful fountain in the middle and the boating facility is available here. It is flanked by Aravalli ranges of mountains and the fully blossomed lotus flowers enhance the beauty of the Lake during the monsoon (July-September) and winter (October-March) months. It is surrounded by huge walls having four ornamented gateways. Various competitions are held here from time to time. It is home to a wide variety of birds both resident and migratory.
