Bhir

Bilwanwali Masjid, commonly known as Bhir, is dedicated to Kamal-ud-din Khan or Sarai Doraha. It is located near the main highway passing through the city of Ludhiana and serves as a shrine for Muslims as well as a tourist attraction in the city. The construction of the mosque dates back to the times of Jehangir and is a sheer specimen of Mughal architecture and craftsmanship of the artisans. Rectangular in shape, the mosque has a number of rooms and verandahs on all the four sides. There are two double-storied gates on the entrance of the mosque which are festooned with designs using colored tiles. Brick carvings can also be seen on the walls of the mosque and the pear-shaped dome accentuates the beauty of the place.
