Amber Palace

Perched atop a rugged hill overlooking the bustling city of Jaipur stands the magnificent Amber Fort, popularly called Amer Fort—a grand fortress that has borne witness to the grandeur of Rajasthan's illustrious past. Built from a harmonious blend of pale yellow and pink sandstone, it exudes timeless elegance and regal splendour. Located just 11 kilometres from the centre of Jaipur, Amer Fort was once a cherished abode of the rulers of Amer, but today, it proudly holds the title of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an extremely popular tourist site.

Boasting a rich, storied past and architectural splendour, the Amer Fort was commissioned by Maharaja Man Singh I in 1592. Its massive structure divides the fort into four main sections, each boasting its own beautiful courtyard.

Fort’s towering location demands for a steep hike but you can make a royal entrance by choosing an elephant ride. These gentle giants will carry you up the steep ascent to the fort, offering breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding landscape. If you prefer a more traditional Rajasthani experience, opt for a leisurely camel ride.

Whether you seek to uncover the mysteries of its former inhabitants or simply bask in the breathtaking panoramic views of the landscape, the Amer Fort, fondly known as 'Amber Palace', welcomes you to unravel its regal splendour.
